Yetminster is situated on the River Wriggle, 5 miles SW of the Historic Abbey town of Sherborne. The country town of Dorchester is 17 miles south with Dorset's heritage coast 20 miles.

Yetminster has a railway station on the Bristol Weymouth line.

50 yards is the well stocked village shop/newsagent/off licence/delicatessen. The village pub serving local food and real ales is a 2-minute walk and a tearoom selling local arts and crafts is a 5 minute walk. There are many local footpath walks including the Macmillan Way.
