This three star seventeenth century coaching inn is surrounded by spectacular scenery. With unsurpassed views, award winning food, real ales, fine wines and individually furnished rooms, the hotel offers a traditional base from which to explore this spectacular region.
It is ideally situated just five miles from Keswick and half an hour from Windermere. The Beatrix Potter museum is nearby and there are plenty of walks in the local area. Those preferring a less energetic stay will enjoy the friendly laid back atmosphere of the hotel sitting by the open log fire in winter, or enjoying views of the fells from the outdoor sitting area in summer.
The Kings Head offers two unique dining experiences, both offering traditional English dishes and local specialties created from the finest local produce. In our award winning St Johns restaurant, our head chef presents a creative four course seasonal menu. Our beamed bar restaurant offers a roaring fire in the inglenook during winter to compliment the cosy traditional atmosphere.
