English Heritage sponsors frequent historical re-enactments at
Peveril Castle. Here an actor tells of his life and times as a
huntsman in the Middle Ages
The Keep
Looking down into Cave Dale from
the castle grounds. The steep dales to east and west acted as
natural defences for Peveril Castle. Here you can clearly see
the walking trail running up Cave Dale. This is a popular route
up to the hills over Castleton.
Remnants of sone wall and a gate in the lower bailey - the enclosure
that held the living quarters and outbuildings for those who lived
at Peveril.
Closeup of the wall inside the keep. Here you can clearly see
how weathering has eaten away at the stone.
