Photos of Worcester Cathedral

One of the most beautiful of English Cathedrals, Worcester stands close to the banks of the River Severn. Within the chancel is the tomb of king John, but do not miss the beautiful chantry chapel of Arthur, Prince of Wales, the man who should have ruled in place of henry VIII.

Worcester Cathedral tower
The cathedral is set in a lovely location in the centre of the city. Access is easy with nearby paid and free parking.
Worcester Cathedral, tower
A slightly different way to look at the lovely tower. No, it isn't a sudden eclipse, this is the way old selenium toned black and photos would have looked.

Statues occupy niches outside the south portal

Beautifully carved, painted tomb, of a style common in the 16th and 17th centuries
Worcester Cathedral, Moore Monument
The Moore Monument, early 17th century. The monument does not identify the figures, but they are likely that of John and Anne Moore and their children.

Worcester Cathedral, Edmund Freake tomb
Crest on the tomb of Bishop Edmund Freake, bishop of Worcester, (d. 1591). This is one of the very earliest examples of a signed tomb. The craftsman was Anthony Tolly of Worcester (1546-94)
