Priory Gate
Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England
Priory Gate marks the location of one of the old medieval gates that gave access to the close surrounding Lincoln Cathedral. The current gateway, which straddles the north end of Pottergate, is a Victorian structure replacing the earlier medieval gateway here. The gate stands a few short steps away from a statue of Alfred, Lord Tennyson, a Lincolnshire native.
