Sweetheart Abbey
Founded in the 13th century as a Cistercian abbey. Beautiful red sandstone ruins. Named Sweetheart because Dervorguilla, wife of John Balliol, carried his embalmed heart around for 22 years after he died, then had it buried with her at the high altar.
