Tenterden and District Museum
History, tourist information, and nearby accommodation
HERITAGE RATING:
A small museum preserving artefacts of local life for Tenterden and area. The museum is housed in a small weatherboarded house, a short stroll away from the depot of the Tenterden historic railway line.
Among the exhibitions is a display about the historic importance of the Cinque Ports and the inland seaport of Smallhythe a few miles south of Tenterden.
There is a very large tapestry on display depicting scenes from Tenterden's history dating back to the Roman period. The upper floor has an authentic antique hop press and an exhibition on hop growing and its historic role in the area.
