Shropshire Self Catering cottage, The Granary, Church Stretton, sleeps 5
Sleeps a maximum of: 5
Pricing From: £407
This semi-detached, pet friendly, barn conversion for 5 people is set on a working farm in the village of Stapleton near Church Stretton in Shropshire and is ideally situated to explore the nearby towns of Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth and Ironbridge.
The Granary is located just 6 miles from Church Stretton and was originally a barn used as part of a working farm. It has been tastefully converted to offer accommodation for up to 5 people. Much of the barnâs original charm has been retained through features such as exposed beams and a wood-burning stove.
The hallway sports an oak staircase and leads to the dining area up a set of original stone steps. For romantic couples, there is a four-poster bed and, for larger groups, there is shared use of a games room with its own snooker table. Outside the Granary is a small garden which lends itself to al fresco dining in the summer months.

Clean and dry but that is about it.
Booked this accommodation having seen it reviewed on this website. Not recommended. Expensive for such poor quality.
We did not see our hostess at all. The lighting in the rooms was low and gloomy. No soap or towels provided in the bathrooms. No second sheet on the bed which had a small blanket and very heavy duvet (weighed about the same as a door). Bulbs kept blowing the bedside lamp every time I went to read.
Entry into upstairs bedroom was via a 3 step up and 3 step down stile with no handrail. Very small shower with plastic curtain that clung to your legs seemed to be housed in a wardrobe.
Excessive noise from floorboards in the upper floor when anybody moved, possibly exacerbated by the heating having been on, closely matched by the heavy duty traffic noise from the small but very busy road the property is located on.
The heating had to be overridden to get it on, and then, it would not go off.
Car parking available. Only plus point of the stay was the very friendly black and white cat.

Quality Stay
What a lovely surprise so quirky and comfortable. On arrival we found a lovely fresh homemade cake and essentials to start our holiday. 'Farmer Nick' let my grandsons feed the calves after a good walk with Jeanette round the fields. Such a lovely friendly couple, on the last morning Nick took the boys on a tractor ride!
There is loads to see in the surrounding area, castle ruins where the boys could climb about, recreation grounds where the boys could play football and cricket. Plenty of shops nearby. We managed to go into Wales as it was so close too.
Thank you Jeannette and Nick.

This a very good cottage for a family as it is clean and homely. The location is great for exploring Shropshire and the hills as everywhere is fairly close. Very quiet and the owners are friendly.

The Granary was an excellent cottage to stay for 5 adults, there was plenty of space and it was very comfortable. The kitchen/diner was a great place to gather for chats and planning the next days activities, while the lounge gave us all a lovely place to chill out. The bedrooms were simply decorated with comfortable beds and masses of storage. The play barn is a great place for children and adults to play and burn off energy. Would recommend and hope to return for two weeks next time.
