Very comfortable well equiped property
The cottage is spacious, well equipped and clean. Instructions on how to use the facilities (hot water, AGA, TV, wood burning stove, BBQ etc) were clear. The lounge is a good size, as is the dining kitchen, which has plenty of cooking utensils, bowls, roasting dishes etc. The downstairs loo in the cottage also as a boot room which is handy to store outdoor shoes, walking gear and pet equipment.
The cottage is located close to the main road (but not so close you can hear it) so getting out and about is easy and convenient without having to travel narrow lanes every time you want to go somewhere.
Caernarfon, and it's fabulous castle is a only 4-5 miles away; Snowdon, and the cute village of Bedgelert is only around 10 miles away and Conwy (such a lovely town) and Anglesey are within a half hour drive.
We ate in quite a lot but there are both Indian and Chinese takeaways in the neighbouring village, a fish and chip shop just a couple of miles away and there is a pop-up wood-fired pizza oven on a Thurs and Fri evening across the road from the Milletts outdoor store on the main road between the cottage and Caernarfon.
We were initially concerned about the proximity of the camp site to the cottage but it is a very small field with just a few caravan pitches, hidden from the cottage behind a hedge. There were about 5 caravans there when we stayed, but we heard no noise at all - there are no facilities for children so I think perhaps families with rowdy children keep away.
It is a dog-friendly cottage, having both front and rear gardens completely fenced so unless you have a particularly agile dog, you can relax knowing your pet is safe. The Lon Eifon cycle track is just across the main road - and you can walk in either direction for a number of miles. It's a tarmac track so quite a clean walk (even when it's raining). I let my dog off the lead as I came across very few other people (and no cyclists at all!) You can also do a circular walk starting from the cottage and along a path in the fields, through the village of Groeslon, and then along the cycle track - 45 mins total.
Dinas Dinlle beach is a few mins drive - part of it is dog friendly. A lovely beach and good parking. However, Morfa Nefyn beach is completely dog-friendly and very much worth a visit with your canine pal.
The owners of the cottage were very friendly and helpful, and were always available to answer questions we had. As well as our welcome pack of wine, Welsh cakes and bread we had some fresh eggs on our doorstep one morning.
