Thieves, AVOID!!!
I had a lovely stay in the apartment with my husband and another couple with a 5 month old baby. So as you could imagine it was a pretty chilled holiday, no partying. A week after our stay I got a call from Sykes cottages to say we are going to be charged £100 for damages done to the property. I was quite surprised by this as we left the property in immaculate condition. I would completely take responsibility for any damages made by me or any others in the group but I am definite they were not made by us. One of the damages is a tiny piece of plastic from one of the trays in the fridge, which we barely used as we ate out 80% of the time. Another was the material from underneath the sofa was loose and hanging down. Now I?m pretty sure to make a damage to the underneath of a sofa, we would have had to go underneath it or physically move it, which we did not, why would we? I have spoked to Sykes and asked them who it actually is who carries out the checks once we leave and it turns out it's the cleaners. When I asked how they could be sure the damages were not done by the cleaners and they?re passing blame, I was met with the response that I should have taken photos when I arrived and left. Now, I?m not sure about you but I?ve never personally felt the need to take a photo of the underneath of a sofa whilst on holiday. I stay in Cornwall 4-5 times a year and have been looking for somewhere to stay each Time so I feel comfortable, it would have been here as the apartment was perfect but after this, I will never stay here again. I?m incredibly unhappy with Sykes taking the owners/cleaners word for it and not taking my comments into consideration. AVOID!!
