Much of the West Midlands is taken up by large urban areas, particularly the greater Birmingham conurbation. Yet there are still pockets of wonderful historic towns and villages to explore, most notably the wonderful historic city of Coventry. We'll be expanding this section as we get a chance to visit more places in the area.
Once one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Britain, Coventry suffered devastating bombing raids in WWII, but the historic city centre still boasts a wonderful array of historic attractions to explore. Among these are the ruins of Coventry's medieval cathedral, standing beside its modern replacement.
