Dudley Castle was begun in 1070 as a traditional Norman motte and bailey castle, and was rebuilt in stone in the late 13th century. Highlights include the 13th-century stone keep and the Sharington Range, built by John Dudley, later the 1st Duke of Northumberland and father-in-law of Lady Jane Grey.
