Scotney Castle photo, Scotney Castle

Scotney Castle is most famous for its wonderful gardens, but at the heart of the garden stands this wonderful moated castle, built in the late 14th century by Roger Ashburnham. What we see today is only one of the original four medieval towers. The castle was replaced as a residence by the nearby 'new' Scotney Castle in the early 19th century.
