Royal Academy Ascot Trip Competition
Posted: 2009-06-17Promotional marketing makes for occasional strange bedfellows. Here's a competition to win a free trip to the Ascot races from the Royal Academy of Arts.
To be fair, both the RA and Ascot are cultural icons, with a long a rich history in quite different areas of British culture.
The Royal Academy is offering a free draw to win a two-night stay in London at the famous Dorchester Hotel, plus a free ticket to the Ascot races to see the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup, and admission to the 241st edition of the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
The Dorchester is one of London's most iconic hotels, located in the heart of the prestigious Mayfair district. The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition has been going strong since 1768, when the Academy was founded by a group of leading artists under the leadership of portrait painter Joshua Reynolds.
As for Ascot, it is one of the highlights of the sporting calendar. The first Ascot races were held in 1711 under the sponsorship of Queen Anne, and Ascot quickly became an essential part of the social year for members of the aristocracy.
