The most intriguing historic church in Stirling, the Church of the Holy Rude is built in Scottish Gothic style. The church was built in stages, the oldest part dating to the early 15th century. The nave has a lovely 15th-century timber roof, while the massive exterior features thick buttresses between the great windows.

Dunblane Cathedral is one of Scotland's oldest and most important surviving medieval churches. The cathedral was founded about 1150 by King David I. The oldest and most striking part of the cathedral building is the 12th-century tower, built of red sandstone which stands out beside the more subdued remainder of the church.
