The Story Behind the Image - Loch Maree, Wester Ross
The view down Loch Maree was named as one of Britain's favourite scenic views in a national newspaper poll, and it isn't surprising when you see it for yourself.
Is was on my way from a week photographing Wester Ross scenery from my base at Aultbea to Torridon for another wonderful week. On the way I meandered down Loch Maree from Gairloch, pausing to photograph Victoria Falls.
I ended up the Beinn Eighe Nature Reserve near Kinlochewe. After several hours exploring the reserve, I made my weary way back to the parking area, drenched in sweat and footsore.
As I started to put away my camera gear I glimpsed the loch through a belt of trees and saw the beautiful reflections of mountain peaks on the far side f the loch.
My fatigue forgotten, I scrambled down to the shore and set up my tripod as far out into the water as I dared to get this photo.
