The Story Behind the Image - Loch Sunart Moonrise
I took this beautiful photo at the Camas Torsa picnic area near the village of Salen, in the south-eastern corner of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. I had driven past the picnic area several times during a week exploring the Ardnamurchan area.
My eye kept getting drawn to this solitary tree standing at the end of a point of land jutting out into the loch. I vowed to come back and see if I could capture something of the scene.
I tried in the late afternoon but there was just something missing from the scene. I wish I could say that I visualised the photo with the moon hovering over the loch but in truth, it was a happy accident.
I came to photograph the beautiful evening light and stayed to see the moon ride high over 'my' tree. I love the result.
