Tenby was an important medieval port town in the early Middle Ages. It retains its medieval town walls and remains of a 13th-century castle. Near the pretty harbour is Tudor Merchant's House, preserved by the National Trust. In the 13th-century parish church is the tomb of Robert Recorde, a Tudor mathematician who gave us the 'equals' sign.
