Hornsea Museum
History, tourist information, and nearby accommodation
HERITAGE RATING:
Hornsea Museum
A glimpse into the past of Hornsea, based in a historic farmhouse occupied by the same family for 300 years. The farmhouse was home to the Burns family until 1952 and is filled with artefacts from daily life from the 19th and 20th centuries. The museum rooms are carefully arranged to show how the family lived, worked, and played.
Collections also show village life, trades, and the social history of the Hornsea region. Find out about local characters like explorer Lt Col. JJ Harrison and an astonishingly strong Victorian carrier named Rose Carr.
There are collections of Hornsea pottery, a dairy, farmhouse kitchen, and a Victorian parlour, as well as lovely gardens.
