Think before you book this holiday let, think hard
Holly hedge Cottage Briston Holly hedge Cottage Briston Letting Agent Sykes Cottages, Owner, Sue Lovell. Arrived Saturday afternoon on 12th March and was relieved to get out on the 19th of March. From our perspective this property was unfit for purpose as a result my wife Julie spent the first day cleaning the kitchen and I spent the week sleeping in a cupboard. I contacted Sykes, politely putting my concerns to the and asked for a full refund with an undertaking to het out of the property as soon as possible. Sykes responded refusing to admit that my concerns had merit saying that if we wanted a refund for 6 of the nights booked, we would have to be out of the property within 30 minutes, but we should be honoured to pay for the privilege of cleaning the kitchen and all needed equipment. It then went downhill from there. Sykes said that ?you should count your self lucky if the kitchen is clean when you arrive? and the owner that everything was Sykes fault, or ours. My experience if it goes well, it goes well but if you have a problem it turns into a nightmare, you will be talked down to, lied to and ignored. They will minimise any points you raise and then find something irrelevant that they can put on you what more can I say other than more details, photo's and copies of communications etc will be lodges at the following site Sykes Cottages Unhappy Customers Facebook page well worth a visit.

Unfortunately really disappointed.
Stopped here as couldn't get any availability near the coast this year. The positives to this cottage is the enclosed garden, very good for our dog, and the bathroom is new and is clean. The bedding was clean and so were the towels, much appreciated. Unfortunately that's where the positives end, the rest of the cottage namely the lounge is cluttered with dark old furniture, the sofa has seen better days, ornaments and faux flowers everywhere just collecting dust really. We moved one of the sofas back to make some more room and it obviously hasn't been hoovered under for a long time. The hoover itself, when we arrived was full with the last occupants remnants, we had to empty it ourselves. There was also food left in the cupboards, half jars of honey and marmalade etc. The kitchen seems ancient, yes its equipped well, but there was still bits of food left in the fridge, toaster full of burnt bits, microwave has seen better days, so has the kettle, I could go on and on! The stairs are errmmm, steeper than I had imagined and the doorway to the other bedroom was very good at banging our heads on a regular basis (dont forget to duck) The village itself is really just in the middle of nowhere ( mistake on my part) We made the most of our holiday but will never return here. To the owners who I'm sure love this cottage, please think of updating the lounge and kitchen, it really is smelling fusty and old. To the cleaner, please try and do a better job, there was someone's pop bottle under my bed and tissues. Also a lucozade bottle left on top of the kitchen cupboards. I dont usually leave reviews but felt I really had to on this occasion. The cottage cost £830 for the week, we will be leaving a day or so earlier and returning home.

Really lovely character full property
The cottage is within easy travelling distance of the coast and market towns of Holt, Fakenham and Aylsham. The village has good amenities plus two public houses. There was everything you could have wanted in the cottage and more. Very comfortable and clean. Would definitely go back

Delightful, well equipped, comfortable cottage
We stayed in this delightful cottage over the Christmas period and were amazed at how beautifully it was decorated, even Christmas crackers were supplied. It is very well equipped with everything you would need for a stay. We took our two dogs so the garden was a bonus. The log fire made it for us as it was cold and frosty outside so we huddled around the fire. We paid a visit to Holt which is only a short drive away, a very quaint village with nice shops. Overall a very Happy Christmas break.
