For a county with so many wonderful historic attractions, Leicestershire doesn't have much in way of surviving monastic sites, as you can see. That doesn't mean it's not worth making a special trip to see, though!
The roofless ruins of a 13th-century Augustinian nunnery stand in a farm field beside the busy A512 road between Loughborough and Ashby de la Zouch. Dissolved by Henry VIII in 1538 and later converted into a Tudor mansion. The priory is reached by a winding trail through attractive woodlands. Grace Dieu is said to be one of the most haunted sites in Leicestershire.
