Lindisfarne Castle is set in a glorious position atop a high plug of rock overlooking the sea. A short walk along the shore brings you to the ruins of medieval Lindisfarne Priory. The castle was originally a Tudor fort, but was rebuilt in 1903 by Edward Lutyens, who created an eccentric house out of the Tudor buildings.
