Seeming strangely out of place amid modern housing stands this 16th-century beehive-shaped dovecot that once served long-vanished Corstorphine Castle. The dovecot is in a very good state of preservation, with nesting boxes still complete and well-used by local pigeons.

Gladstone's Land is a 16th-century merchant's house later converted into an early 17th century 'high-rise' tenement. The ground floor shop is restored to what it would have looked like when used by a 17th-century cloth merchant. Upstairs is The Painted Chamber, with colourfully painted ceiling and walls created in 1620.
