St Cybi's Church, Holyhead, is a medieval church on the site of a 6th-century monastery founded by St Cybi. The chancel is 13th century with the rest of the church being 15th-16th century, with excellent late Victorian carving.

This attractive little church stands near the River Dysynni, just east of the ruins of Castell-y-Bere. The church has several interesting historic features. The font, a scalloped bowl atop a cylindrical column, is 12th century and is thought to have come from the castle chapel.

Outside the west door of St Michael's church in the small village of Ynys stands a carved stone, erected sometime in the mid 12th century. The stone stands about 6 feet high and is carved with a Latin inscription reading 'Hoc est sepulchrum Will. Dermae de Deler, qui primus aedificavit hanc Ecclesiam, in tempore Ewini Regis'.

A royal monastery was established at Llangadwaladr around AD 615 by the Kings of Gwynedd, whose power base was just west at Aberffraw. At that time the name was simply 'Eglwys Ael', or Wattle Church. The living of Llangadwaladr church remained in royal hands, being controlled by the English monarch until 1920.
