Perfect location
Just returned from a great week at this cottage. If your looking for a peaceful get away with nobody around then this is the perfect location. Sitting outside in the lovely weather taking in the view of Loch Ryan was fantastic. Had some amazing days out too, walking and mountain biking at Kirroughtree, coastal walk from Portpatrick (passing a house from Grand Designs), and the fabulous Mull of Galloway (great cafe here by the way). Some lovely little beaches around too, Port Logan and Sandhead were favourites. Great history around Cairnryan that I wasn't aware of regarding the WW2 port and Wig Bay RAF seaplane base. There is actually and old WW2 gun emplacement next to the cottage. The areas above were also filming locations of the Gerrard Butler movie The Vanishing (had to watch it when I got home). Sampled some good restaurants in the area, Tigh Na Mara at Sandhead and Austins at Girvan were very good. The only reason for not giving five stars is the road leading up to the cottage. It starts off fine (Tarmaced) but then turns to rough stones, no problem in a 4x4 but a little tricky in a sportier car with low profile tyres, its doable but had to go very slowly. Takes about 7 minutes from end to end. All in all I would definitely recommend Little Laight. Amazing if you get good weather like we did.

Disappointing
Turned up gone 4pm and the cleaners hadn?t even been, we contacted the owner to let him know that no one had been and if he could help with finding out a time as if I went shopping I?d have perishable items, had No reply from owner (all week). In the end we had to sit outside the property and didn?t get in until 6:30pm. When I entered the property before the cleaners there was a Smoke alarm left on the kitchen side with a note saying that it needed new batteries, this was still in the same place when we finally got in the cottage. When I looked around I noticed that All bedding and towels were dirty and covered in dog and human hair, Both baths were Full of human and dog hair, there were Clothes from the previous occupant left in the house and food under the bed and on a door frame. All the throws and cushions are clearly not being washed Between occupants as was full of dirt and dead flies. The sofa also looked like it had been used as a dog bed. Had to clean the house before we could enjoy our holiday as sadly it wasn?t cleaned anywhere near normal standards let alone the new Covid standards I was told the cottage would receive. I contacted Sykes with my review and have been completely ignored! Such a shame as it's lovely cottage with absolutely stunning views and great walks!

Away from it all ..... But very windy!
Lovely cottage with all mod cons although water pressure is a bit low due to no mains water. Being so high up the cottage is subject to strong winds which makes sitting out difficult sometimes. Great isolated location with good views out to see. Situated in farmland so cattle and sheep roaming free. Dogs on lead at all times so little bit restrictive for him. Still had a good break and would highly recommend taking points into consideration.

Escape the hustle bustle of the city and chill on the hill.
We've stopped at this cottage a couple of times now and when you arrive you feel like you're entering a totally remote part of Scotland, but your only a few miles from Stranraer. The ferry service to Ireland is literally on your doorstep at the end of the track. The facilities in the cottage are excellent and it's so well kept and cleaned to the highest standard. If you enjoy walking then there are numerous walks on the doorstep also and if you fancy a game of golf don't forget Turnberry is just up the coast. As for myself I enjoy the fishing in the area and for expert advice on where to fish I recommend you pop and see the proprietor of the Sports shop Eric, in Stranraer, who will spend time with you and tell you where is fishing well.

Secluded Hill Top Retreat
We had an absolutely wonderful time at Little Laight. The location is superb with stunning views over Loch Ryan. The large enclosed garden would be ideal for children, with the added benefit of sheep and cattle on the adjoining land to look at. Many a happy hour was spent walking locally with our border collie, with an abundance of places to walk with only the sound of bird song and animals. The cottage is well equipped, with genuinely all you would expect, to make your stay comfortable. Access to the property via a private road/ track up the hillside became a bit tedious towards the end of our week due to the roughness of the ride, as 60% of the way is on stones, be prepared it takes ten minutes from the A75 to the cottage, but don't let that deter you as the cottage and location are well worth the bumpy journey to get there.
