Broughton is a small village overwhelmed by the urban sprawl of Milton Keynes. Within the 14th-century nave of St Lawrence church, however, is a medieval delight; a series of wall paintings that were buried beneath layers of wall-covering for centuries until they were revealed during a Victorian restoration.

The oldest building in Buckingham, the Chantry Chapel dates to the 15th century. It boasts an earlier Norman doorway. The chapel was restored by Gilbert Scott in the 19th century, at which time it housed the Royal Latin School. It is owned by the National Trust, who operate a small second-hand book shop from the premises. The chapel is quite simple in design; it has a central arched doorway topped by a rose window. On either side of the doorway are a pair of windows, one for each of the building's two stories. A small bellcote sits atop the ridgeline of the roof. Inside, there is a small wooden gallery at one end of the chamber, supported on oaken legs.

St Michael's Church, Chenies, is a late 15th-century church within the grounds of Chenies Manor. The current church replaced a 12th-century structure made partly of wood. The only bits of the Norman church to survive are a section of a column capital and the 12th-century font. The 15th-century rebuilding was the work of Sir David Phelip (Phillips), husband of Dame Agnes Cheyne.

In 1244 Sir Ralphe de Norwich founded an Augustinian priory at Chetwode, four miles from Buckingham. At that time there was already a parish church here, dedicated to St Martin, though there was not much in the way of a village beyond a few scattered farms.

A 12th-century church containing superb 14th-century wooden effigies. St Mary the Virgin at Clifton Reynes stands at the end of a long lane, seemingly isolated despite the fact that it is not far from the outskirts of Olney. The church consists of an aisled nave, chancel, north chapel, west tower, and a south porch.

An appealing medieval church with Norman roots. Much of the current building is 13th and 14th century, but there are some extremely appealing Norman elements still left to see. There was a church on this site at least as early as 1140, but the chancel was extended in 1230, a south aisle and arcade added around 1240, and a south porch in the late 15th century.

St Bartholomew's church at Fingest is a wonderfully unique Norman church, with a justly famous west tower. The layout of the church is remarkable; the tower is wider than the narrow nave, which suggests that the tower was originally used as the nave, and the current nave was the original chancel. The current chancel is 13th century and may have replaced an original apse.
