A London landmark of a different sort; the Thames Barrier looks more like a modern art installation than an engineering masterpiece designed to control the water levels on the Thames. The Barrier was built between 1974 and 1982 at Woolwich Reach. Thames Barrier Park lies at the north end of the Barrier.
