We live about a mile away from this pretty village scene.

A picturesque footbridge crosses the River Windrush in the Cotswold village of Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire.

Bourton is known as 'the Venice of the Cotswolds' for its numerous footbridges crossing the river. It is also one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Cotswolds, and on a sunny summer day you will often find tourists from all over the world exploring the village.

I wasn't bothered by tourists when I was taking this photo, however, as I got up around 6 am and drove the mile to Bourton. I love the reflections in the slow-moving water of the Windrush, and the different colours in the trees that line the river bank.

In winter Bourton holds a Victorian Christmas festival, and as part of the festival it has become traditional to erect a very large Christmas tree in the middle of the Windrush. It makes for an unforgettable sight!
