The Story Behind the Image - Loch Eynort, Isle of Skye
Eynort is a small hamlet on the west coast of the Isle of Skye, on the north shore of Loch Eynort. I came to Eynort to visit the historic ruined chapels (two chapels sharing the same graveyard, on the site of a 7th-century chapel founded by St Maelrubha).
I hadn't planned on doing any landscape photography but the setting was so incredible on a sunny summer evening that I just had to explore the loch after I had finished with the chapels.
I met an elderly man who had grown up in Eynort and he entertained me with fascinating tales of what life was like in such an isolated little community off Scotland's west coast.
As I explored along the loch shore my eye was drawn to a piece of driftwood. I love the shape made by the broken branches as they reach for the sky and help frame the beautiful loch.
