The Story Behind the Image - Loch Leathan, Isle of Skye

A late winter morning at Loch Leathan, near Staffin on the beautiful Isle of Skye, Scotland. This was my very first morning on Skye - one of many - and it started out with glorious light - and glorious light has been a continuing feature of my return visits to Skye!

I had been looking forward to my family's first visit so much that I was awake well before dawn.

My wife, being the sensible sort of person she is, wasn't keen on greeting the dawn so she kicked me out the door to go enjoy myself while she took a more leisurely approach to the day.

I drove south along the coast road towards Portree and came around a bend in the road to see this wonderful early-morning scene. I wasn't well prepared; I still had trainers on, but I could resist walking along the icy ground on the shore of the loch to take this photo looking south down the loch.
