Golden dawn light streams across Loch Fada on the Trotternish Peninsula, Isle of Skye, with the peaks of the Black Cuillins in the distance.

I love the way that a single lonely house on the shore of the loch emphasises the height of the mountains and blends into the curving shore of the loch.

I took this photo on the very first morning of my very first visit to Skye, on a crisp and cold day in April. The ground was icy underfoot, and my goodness the air had some bite to it!

I was driving south from the holiday cottage my family and I had rented near Staffin, heading towards Portree, when I came around a corner and saw this wonderful view before me. I just had to stop and photograph it.
