An award-winning museum that traces the history of Cirencester from its origins as a Roman town, through its medieval prosperity as a centre of the Cotswold wool trade, to the turmoil of the Civil War years. As you might expect for an old Roman town, many of the exhibits showcase Roman artefacts, and there are opportunities for younger visitors to explore the fascinating history of the region through hands-on exhibits. Among the highlights are a Roman town-house interior, and reconstructed mosaic floors found nearby.
