Lochranza Castle photo, Lochranza Castle

Lochranza Castle stands at the very northern tip of the Isle of Arran. The castle was built in the 13th century and was for many years the home of the Macsweens. It later passed to the Stewarts, and eventually to the Hamilton family. It is now in the care of Historic Scotland. The bulk of the remains date to a 16th century rebuilding. It is the fabulous scenic location that makes Lochranza such a joy to visit; I've been on numerous occasions and find it a real treat to return.
