The lonely remains of a clearance village stand at the northern end of Strathnaver Glen, beside Lochan Duinte. Up to 80 people lived beside the loch before they were evicted in the last great clearance of Strathnaver in 1819. All that is left now are ruined foundations of houses, stackyards, barns, and a pair of corn kilns.

Families evicted from their lands in favour of sheep farming ended up here, scratching a meagre living by fishing. When the herring fishery declined, the villagers began to leave, and Badbea is now a deserted ruin.
